Man punched, pistol-whipped in Bowling Green subway robbery

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Police are looking to identify one of two suspects who punched and pistol-whipped a victim during a robbery at a Manhattan subway station over the weekend.

Just before 11 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, a 22-year-old man was approached by two suspects on the northbound 4 train at Bowling Green Station.

According to officials, the first suspect hit the victim in the face with an open hand and forcibly took an I-phone XR from his person.

The second suspect, identified by police as 19-year-old Ivan Maldonado, struck the victim in the face with a firearm which caused a minor cut to the right eye.

The first suspect fled to parts unknown and the Maldonado was apprehended by authorities.
