MANDAN, ND ( KXNET ) — Police in Mandan have arrested a man after they say he violently attacked a woman.

According to the Mandan Police Department, on Sunday afternoon, officers were called to a mobile home park — where a bystander told police he saw a man punch a woman as they were sitting in a car.

As an officer showed up, she told both people to get out of the car — and that upon further examination, the woman in the vehicle had several cuts on her face and chest.

The woman told police that as she was arguing with the man (Wayne Martinez) in the car, he hit her with a cast iron tool.

Police arrested Martinez, and a search revealed that he was carrying meth and what are believed to be fentanyl pills.

He is now being charged with aggravated assault and drug possession.

Martinez will be back in court again in June. His bond is currently set at $20,000.
