MANCHESTER – A 42-year-old man suffered multiple injuries after crashing into trees, causing his truck to overturn, police said.

Around 10:35 a.m. on May 14, officers responded to Horicon Avenue about a half-mile east of Route 530 regarding a single-vehicle crash.

A white 2020 Toyota Tacoma was found overturned on its driver side with extensive front-end damage. According to police, the Tacoma was heading west on Horicon Avenue when it crossed over the center line and left the roadway, impacting several trees. As a result, the truck overturned and came to final rest partially in the eastbound travel lane of Horicon Avenue.

The driver of the Toyota, 42-year-old Jeremy D. Bier of Pennsauken, NJ, suffered multiple severe injuries to his entire body. He was subsequently transported via Medevac to Jersey Shore University Medical Center and is listed in critical condition at this time.

Police determined that Bier was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Assisting at the scene were EMTs and firefighters from the Manchester Township Division of Emergency Services, firefighters from the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Fire Department, firefighters from the Whiting Volunteer Fire Department, and Robert Wood Johnson LifeFlight.

According to police, failure to maintain lane and failure to wear a seatbelt are the primary contributing factors of the crash.

This crash is being investigated by Ptl. Conner Yatauro of the department’s Traffic Safety Section.
