46-year-old man riding bike dies after being hit by car near Erie Boulevard East
Syracuse, N.Y. — A 46-year-old man died in April after he was hit by a car near Erie Boulevard East at night, police said Tuesday. Jermaine Sterling was hit by the car around 12:04 a.m. April 15 and later died in the hospital the same day, Kieran Coffey, a spokesperson for the Syracuse police, confirmed Tuesday.
Syracuse mom accused of attacking teacher now charged with threatening another teacher
Syracuse, N.Y. – A Syracuse mother accused of posing as a student to enter a school and assaulting a teacher was arraigned on new charges Wednesday. Lynzina Sutton, 31, was charged with entering Lincoln Middle School on Feb. 16 assaulting her daughter’s teacher and threatening another teacher while inside the school, according to an indictment.

Utica man sentenced on federal fentanyl charges
SYRACUSE, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — A Utica man learned his fate in federal court on Wednesday, May 1 after pleading guilty to fentanyl possession charges. 38-year-old Eric Ares of Utica was sentenced to ten years in federal prison for consipiring to possess and distribute fentanyl on Wednesday, according to United States Attorney Carla Freedman. Ares pled guilty in an earlier appearance in the Syracuse Federal Court.

Syracuse, N.Y. – A trial for a Syracuse man accused of fatally shooting 11-month-old Dior Harris in 2021 started Monday with jury selection. Jesse D. Outley, 27, was the second person charged with participating in the drive-by shooting in the 300 block of Grant Avenue that killed Baby Dior and left a 3-year-old girl and an 8-year-old girl injured on April 11, 2021.

Syracuse, N.Y. — A bullet went through a dorm room window at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, university officials confirmed Wednesday. The bullet was found Wednesday morning on the dorm room floor in Centennial Hall, said Danielle Gerhart, ESF executive director of communications and marketing.
