SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Lynzina Sutton, the mother of a Lincoln Middle School student, who allegedly verbally assaulted and repeatedly punched a teacher in the face back in February, was in court on May 1.

Sutton was arraigned in Onondaga County court on 14 counts.

They include assault, harassment and burglary. The other counts are for endangering the welfare of a child, for the students in the classroom at the time of the incident.

The teacher who was attacked had a concussion, a broken nose, and a fractured spine at the base of their nose, and a lot of healing to do, police say.

“School is supposed to be a safe place both for the children who attend and also for the people who work at that school and an incident such as this is going to be taken very seriously,” said Senior Onondaga County Assistant District Attorney, Cindi Newton.

Sutton was also issued two orders of protection. One for the teacher who was assaulted, and another for the teacher she is accused of harassing.
