Lady Mambas win another tourney
The seventh grade Lady Mambas AAU team based in Hillsboro, Ohio had another successful weekend placing first place in the Ballin at the Creek Tournament in Beavercreek. This was the 2024 Lady Mambas last in-state tournament ending their season with an overall record of 19-4. Coach Derrik Haithcock said he “is proud of the hard work these girls have put in and that winning is a bonus, but he is more excited about the reps and confidence they are gaining with their individual development of the fundamentals of the game, learning to pay attention to detail, communicate and work as a team.” The Lady Mambas head to Rock Hill, South Carolina for a national tournament June 19-23. Basketball first up in Clinton County History Center speaker series
Embark on a journey through the diverse and dynamic world of sports with the Clinton County History Center’s brand new speaker series. The first in the monthly “The Scoreboard Speaks” series will cover basketball with Clinton County legends Don DeVoe, Robbin Luck, Greg Nared and Butch Hooper. The basketball speaker series night will be held 7 p.m. Thursday at the McCoy Room on the Wilmington College campus.
WHS grad Walker track, field career to continue at WC

31 Quakers anmed spring academic All-OAC
Wilmington College had 31 student-athletes honored across five different sports as academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference for the spring. The Quakers softball team had the most athletes recognized with 10. Earning the honor for the third time in their careers were McKenna Archey, Hillary Huffer and Kylah Morrison. Being named for the second time were Judaea Wilson, Rachel Berry and Makenzie O’Neil. First time honorees were Nina Peak, Taylor Evans, Mollie Moore and Samantha Schwab.
A belated Mother’s Day gift: Blair brothers, Eyre brothers qualify for state in the 4x800 relay
Mother's Day may have officially been on May 12 of this year, but for two Whiteoak Wildcat moms, it just keeps on coming. Whiteoak's 4x800 relay team is made up of two sets of brothers, Landen Eyre and Keegan Eyre and Weston Blair and Sawyer Blair. These four young men have qualified for the state track meet in Dayton next Friday.
Fairfield’s district success has been a long time coming
Sometimes the wait is worth it, and on Monday, the 22 years of waiting for the Fairfield Lions was well worth the celebration and excitement by the current 2024 Lions. First baseman Corbin Willey fielded a ground ball with two outs, raced to first and ran over the base with unbridled excitement — with his arms raised in victory — for a five-inning, 11-1 win over Racine Southern, giving the Lions their first district championship in baseball since 2002.
