COSMIC Symphony will host a pair of concerts with international female vocalist Lisa Harman titled “Sounds of the Screen.”

The concerts will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at the Nancy R. and Nortovn T. Dodge Performing Arts Center at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, 47855 College Drive in St. Mary’s City; and 3 p.m. Sunday, May 5, at Patuxent High School, 12485 Southern Connector Blvd. in Lusby.

Harman will perform orchestra musical favorites from “Titanic,” “Les Miserables,” James Bond movies and “Cats.” The orchestra will perform music from “Star Wars” and “Pirates of the Caribbean.”

According to an email, Harman is a multi-talented entertainer, pianist, singer, musical director and songwriter and is “universally loved for her vivacious stage presence.”

As a musical prodigy, Harman started playing the piano at the age of 3 and four years later performed in recitals at Brighton Pavilion. In her teens she also toured the country as vocal soloist with the National Youth Choir of Great Britain.

She began her professional career as both a cabaret artiste and musical director for a variety of theater shows, including a starring role as Rizzo in “Grease.”

For almost 20 years, Harman was the featured vocalist with the renowned Empress Orchestra in the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom. Since 2015, she has been performing during cruises, culminating in her current theatrical blend of both virtuoso piano and sublime vocals.

The two concerts are free, but donations are accepted.
