Tyler City Council backs proposal to convert historic church into affordable senior housing
TYLER, Texas — A historic Tyler church could soon get a brand-new purpose as city leaders on Wednesday supported a proposed Northside renovation project. The Brownstone Group, a Houston-based development company, laid out plans to transform the historic Iglesias Nueva Vida Church in downtown Tyler into affordable senior housing. The plan would include 48 to 54 affordable rental apartments. Developers asked the council to back the project as they apply for tax credits through the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs.
