LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) – In Ludlow, it was an outpouring of respect for the town’s military members who gave their lives in service to their country.

Wreath layings and a 21-gun salute were conducted at different locations across town to remember these fallen heroes. The first wreath was laid at the Island Pond Cemetery…followed by the Sgt. Desforges memorial in honor of a Marine and Ludlow High School graduate, who lost his life while serving in Afghanistan. More wreaths were laid at the Center Street Cemetery and the Civil War Memorial.. where the names of many veterans from the town are inscribed.

“It’s important that we continue to remember those that never made it home, those that sacrificed their freedom so we can enjoy this weekend. As long as we continue to remember them, and say their names, they will never be forgotten,” said the Director of Veterans Services, Eric Segundo.

This Sunday night a candlelight vigil will be held at Veterans Memorial on East Street. They will be reading all the names of those killed in action and on Monday the town will hold its parade.
