Texas Tech ropes in fourth straight Ranch Horse National Championship

LUBBOCK, Texas — According to a Texas Tech press release, Texas Tech University has won its fourth national championship, with titles across three divisions at the National Intercollegiate Ranch and Stock Horse Association national championships.

Texas Tech was able to claim the Division 1 national title and took home the Hughes Horse Trailer.

“I am so proud of this 2024 team,” said Ranch Horse Team coach Justin Stanton. “The upperclassmen we have are first-class leaders and have helped make the team what it is today.”

“Stepping into the arena eight times within two and a half days, it takes a mentally strong competitor and horse to come out on top of this show and I am so proud to see these elite team members do it for the fourth consecutive time.”

Texas Tech’s Kenedie Southard was honored with the Kris Wilson Top Hand Award for being the top performer at the competition.

Southard finished first in the Novice Division, Texas Tech’s Collin Ochsner earned top honors in the Non-Pro Division and Red Raider Treylyn Hancock won first place in the Limited Non-Pro Division.
