If passed, the controversial ordinance would decriminalize up to four ounces of marijuana for Lubbock adults.

The signs have been posted across the city and displayed on the side of two of Lubbock’s most popular churches, Trinity Church and Southcrest Baptist Church.

Though politically charged, they do not advocate for or against a particular candidate and fall within the guidelines for posting signage in Lubbock city limits.

The following is an excerpt from the IRS policy regarding Charities, Churches and Politics:

“The law prohibits political campaign activity by charities and churches by defining a 501(c)(3) organization as one “which does not participate in, or intervene in (including the publishing or distributing of statements), any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public office.”

Is there a rise in head-on crashes in Lubbock?

Terisa Clark with Project Destiny previously told EverythingLubbock.com “We’re voting against creating a place that turns our minors into drug traffickers and to create a place where we don’t allow illegal substances to come in here and take over.”

Freedom Act Lubbock refuted the claims in an official statement on Monday morning, calling the claims made about Prop A “baseless.”

“All of these allegations are baseless, and we are really disappointed that our local elected officials and church leaders are participating in the lies,” the statement said. “Freedom Act Lubbock firmly refutes these rumors and encourages everyone to get out and
vote.”
