After 80 years, missing Alliance WWII soldier remains identified
On March, 14 2024 Sergeant Edward K. Pyle, 31, of Alliance, Ohio has now been accounted for. He served in the Air Force and was killed during World War II. SSgt. Pyle was a member of the 436th Bombardment Squadron during December of 1943. On December 1, 1943, he served as a gunner onboard a bombing mission on a B-24J Liberator bomber the airplane was hit by an anti-aircraft fire. This caused Pyle's plane let wing to burst with flames, and take a dive down while disappearing below the clouds.
