When will gun violence end in Louisville? Without sensible gun laws it won't.

    By Letters to the editor,

Five more people dead. Shot and killed over Mother’s Day weekend in Jefferson County. A victim’s relative asked, “when will it end?” The answer is: it won’t. As long as guns and ammo are readily available, easily purchased by almost anyone with the money(or stolen in many cases), innocent people just living their lives will continue to be murdered in our community. Until the political will exists to change that reality by enacting sensible gun laws we all will continue living in this insane reality. All we can do is hope we or our loved ones aren’t in the wrong place at the wrong time.

What an incredibly sad state of affairs.

Gun violence is rampant. Where does the buck stop?

To quote Honest Abe - you can't fool all the people ALL the time. Derby's done and the PGA is next. Visitors may be impressed, but those who live here shouldn't be. In fact, they should be appalled by the mounting violence and overall mayhem. This city is going to blazes and the public tolerates it.

Why? It's absurd every time an official states 'this violence has to stop'. It rings hollow. None of it will stop until all of the misbehavior is cracked down on. What's the plan? I pose this question to the Mayor, the Metro Council, the Police Chief, the Office of Safe and Healthy Neighborhoods (really?). The violence has reached this level because we've unfortunately got a lot of bad people who don't give a damn about anyone but themselves. I was just harassed entering a neighborhood store by someone speaking a language I don't understand. My street is chaotic and my Councilman ignores me. I'm far from alone in this peril. It's high time the public holds those in charge of our welfare accountable! They ran for office saying they have answers. What are they? No excuses, get something done!

Chickasaw Park improvements are coming. But it shouldn't take shooting to prompt maintenance.
