    Emmet Sheehan.

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced starting pitcher Emmet Sheehan underwent season-ending UCL surgery on his right elbow.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache.

Sheehan has been on the injured list all season after experiencing shoulder soreness. He was favored to be the fifth starter in the rotation but went on the shelf on March 9 and hasn’t pitched since.

The 24-year-old was a major contributor to the starting rotation last year. In his rookie year , Sheehan appeared in 13 games and started 11. He had a 4.92 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 60.1 innings.

Sheehan’s setback makes the Dodgers list of injured pitchers even longer. Los Angeles is still waiting on Clayton Kershaw, Tony Gonsolin, and Dustin May to come back from injuries.

Walker Buehler just returned for the first time in two years, and Shohei Ohtani won’t pitch for the Dodgers until next season.

While there is no timeline for his return, it’s safe to assume Sheehan will miss the start of next season as well.
