Michael Wilbon Issues Blunt Two-Word Message to LeBron James After Darvin Ham's Firing

In the wake of Darvin Ham's dismissal from the Lakers after just two seasons, criticism has been directed toward LeBron James.

Fans are pointing fingers at LeBron, suggesting that his reluctance to collaborate with most coaches contributes to the team's inability to progress further. This sentiment underscores a perception that LeBron's approach to coaching dynamics may hinder team success.

It appears ESPN's Michael Wilbon feels similarly.

During Friday's episode of ESPN's Pardon the Interruption , Wilbon discussed the Ham firing with co-host Frank Isola.

Wilbon expressed his frustrations over the Lakers' decision and called on LeBron to "take accountability" like one of the greatest basketball players in history should.

“You know what? I’m angry," Wilbon said. "I’ve known Darvin Ham for a long time. He’s a great guy. And he’s a pretty damn good coach. Because he took a team that had done nothing the year before, missed the playoffs, and then last year they got to the conference finals with him and everybody had praise for him, including LeBron and Anthony Davis.

“They blame him now. Their public comments are inadequate. Let me say this: If you want to be the GOAT, you want to tell everybody you’re the greatest player of all time, you want to have it on podcasts, then take accountability like one. Do that!… if you’re the GOAT, you do that. You don’t blame this cryptically or backhandedly on Darvin Ham. I don’t want to hear from anybody in a Laker uniform that the primary problem was Darvin Ham. “Yes, LeBron and Anthony Davis were great in that series, but they weren’t good enough against Denver, so take that on. GOAT carries responsibility. I don’t see it.”

LeBron James' perceived passive aggressive approach with coaches is one of the biggest criticisms against him throughout his NBA career, even now after his 21st season.

It's fair to question LeBron's behavior and interactions with head coaches. It's also fair to come back to reality and realize Darvin Ham was awful throughout his two seasons with the Lakers. Both can be true.
