The Darvin Ham era in Los Angeles officially reached its end on Friday.

Ham, 50, was fired earlier this afternoon just a few days after L.A. was eliminated from the postseason at the hands of the defending NBA champion Nuggets.

Chatter has already begun surrounding the Lakers' next head coach - and a few names seem to be rising to the top.

One of which just so happens to be LeBron James' podcast co-host, longtime NBA guard JJ Redick.

"The Lakers have made their expected coaching change by firing Darvin Ham today … and here is my coaching carousel piece from Tuesday on JJ Redick’s candidacy for the job," NBA correspondent Marc Stein tweeted.

Redick, 39, last played in the NBA during the 2020-21 season for the Dallas Mavericks. Since then, he's remained close with the association, starting several podcasts and even calling games for ESPN.

But now, with the Lakers head coaching position open following Ham's departure, fans believe this could be the perfect time for JJ to get into coaching.

"JJ redick next coach of the lakers," Michael tweeted.

"Imagine JJ Redick becomes the Lakers new head coach after starting a podcast with LeBron," StatMamba writes.

The interest in Redick isn't just from fans, though.

NBA insider Shams Charania reported earlier on Friday that L.A. will conduct an extensive search with candidates seemingly including Redick.

"The Los Angeles Lakers have parted ways with coach Darvin Ham, and sources tell me and @jovanbuha an extensive search will commence soon, with candidates such as Mike Budenholzer, Kenny Atkinson, JJ Redick and, if he becomes available, Ty Lue among others," NBA insider Shams Charania reported.

It's going to be an eventful next few weeks for the Lakers.
