A woman has settled her lawsuit with Wells Fargo and a former bank executive who she alleged gave her uninvited massages, invited her to his house to exercise and shower with him and said that refusing to date him could cause her to lose job opportunities.

The plaintiff is identified only as Jane Doe in the Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit filed against Wells Fargo and ex-Senior Vice President Carl Nelson, alleging gender discrimination, harassment and retaliation. She was hired by the bank in 2000 and five years later was promoted to vice president and senior portfolio manager, the suit states. in 2005, according to court filings.

On Friday, the woman's attorneys filed court papers with Judge Maureen Duffy-Lewis notifying her of the resolution of the case. No terms were divulged.

In their court papers, Wells Fargo attorneys denied any liability on the part of the bank and said Doe's claims belonged in the workers' compensation arena. In their court papers, Nelson's lawyers stated that Doe's allegations "are all make-believe, Ms. Doe knows full well they are, and that she (did) not once complain to a single person at the bank about Mr. Nelson."

According to the suit filed in May 2023, Nelson would often go into plaintiff's office and immediately shut the door.

"Nelson would proceed to massage plaintiff's shoulders and neck while stating that plaintiff looked tense," the suit alleged.

From 2018-20, Nelson used his authority and status to threaten Doe to see him outside of work and told her he would not give her any sales opportunities unless she went out with him, according to the suit, which also stated that Nelson also would invite Doe to his house to exercise and shower with him.

Doe was terminated in October 2020 under the pretext that Wells Fargo was laying people off due to the coronavirus, the suit alleged.
