Joaquin man gets 60 years for killing woman in ‘Satanic’ sacrifice
SHELBY COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - A Joaquin man accused in 2022 of killing a woman as part of a Satanic ritual was given several decades in prison as part of a plea bargain. Ethan Myers, 29, was arrested in November 2022 in connection with the death of Sarah Hopson, 36, of Joaquin. The arrest affidavit states that Hopson died of blunt force trauma to the head. According to the affidavit, it was Myers’ mother who told investigators her son was hiding in the woods and that Hopson “wanted him to sacrifice her,” which he then did. Myers’ mother told investigators her son “hears voices and is Satanic.”

North DeSoto wrestling coach Dustin Burton has been named the National Wrestling Coaches Association Louisiana Boys State Coach of the Year, the NWCA announced recently. The 2024 Shreveport Times All-Region wrestling Coach of the Year will now contend for Region III Coach of the Year honors along with coaches from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
