Neighbors, community react to deputy-involved shooting in Houma
Terrebonne deputies fired upon a partially submerged SUV, killing the driver, after a pursuit Nov. 5 ended with the vehicle in Bayou Terrebonne. A white BMW SUV’s front end was in Bayou Terrebonne, across the bayou from Terrebonne Parish High School. Terrebonne Parish deputies approached the vehicle and shouted at the driver to get out. He continuously tried to reverse the vehicle. That’s when Elicia Collins left the St. Charles Street Bridge with her infant in her arms. When she walked back into her home, she heard a flurry of gunshots. According to Louisiana State Police, who are investigating the shooting, it left the driver dead. The Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office declined to release the name of the victim at this time, citing the ongoing investigation. “They were like, ‘Let me see your hands!’” Collins said. “We thought we heard an AK or something at first, because it was like pap pap pap pap pap.” “It was probably like eight shots, nine shots,” she added. Collins’s home security camera captured the audio of the gunshots. About eight shots were heard, loudly punctuating the victim’s end. Collins was visiting her mother on the neighboring street about 10 a.m. She drove home

The lead changed late in the Bonnabel-Warren Easton game after a 'big-time player' delivered
Bonnabel quarterback Jayce Romain and wide receiver Raheem Williams didn’t let injuries stop them from leading a comeback against district foe Warren Easton. Trailing by 21 points in the fourth quarter, Bonnabel got back in the game after senior defensive back Brennen Tardy recovered an Easton fumble and ran it back 89 yards for a touchdown. Williams, who played through a mild concussion and a groin injury, caught two touchdowns after Tardy’s scoop-and-score.
