Good food. Good people. Good living. Localish is all about bringing out the good in America’s cities.
A roving lifeline for the body and soul
Famed French chef Daniel Boulud recently delivered a delicious meal, one that was specially prepared in one of his own kitchens, to a homebound older adult on Manhattan's Upper East Side.
Every day, 81-year-old Lillian receives a nutritional meal from Citymeals on Wheels, delivered to her apartment on the Upper East Side, where she's lived for more than 50 years.
Since its founding back in 1981, Citymeals has delivered 72 million nutritious meals to homebound older New Yorkers with the help of thousands of volunteers.
For the most vulnerable New Yorkers, hunger remains an urgent crisis.
Citymeals is delivering 2.5 million meals this year. Citymeals relies on the goodness of everyday New Yorkers. They need people to volunteer, to help prep and deliver meals, but also donate. Every $10 delivers a meal.
"We wanna make sure that New Yorker's know 100% of what they're giving will go right to our programs to make sure older New York's are getting fed, that there's a knock on their door, letting them know that we care about them," said Beth Shapiro, CEO of Citymeals on Wheels.

Florida Man’s Poop Fight Goes Completely Off the Rails.
Folks, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Florida is the only place where a disagreement over dog poop can apparently escalate into a felony case, an assault with a scooter, and enough body-cam footage to make Netflix start taking notes.
