Bellevue's internationally vibrant dining scene just got a little more tropical. A new restaurant with deep roots in the Pacific Islands is making waves, offering island-inspired cuisine with authentic flavors from Polynesia, Micronesia, and Melanesia.
Nestled just outside of the downtown core, Pasifika offers a getaway from the doldrums of office life through the food and music of the Pacific Islands. It is the brainchild of an all-star team including Chefs Ray & RJ Ogo, a father-and-son duo from Rota, Edward Muna from Guam, and Angela Mose, representing Tongan and Samoan heritage. Together, they bring over 50 years of experience in food, hospitality, and tourism, crafting a vibe that embodies the warmth and richness of island culture.
"My favorite part of this journey is having a solid, talented partnership: my 'work family'. And seeing the pride that radiates from our customers and families," says Angela Mose. "We’re on a mission to bring back real-deal hospitality, showcase incredible food, and build amazing connections along the way. That’s what keeps me fired up every day."
With a name that pays homage to Pasifika (a term celebrating the indigenous people and islands of the Pacific), the restaurant is more than just a place to eat; it’s an island experience. From the moment you step through the doors, you’re hit with that unmistakable island energy: warm welcomes, lively vibes, and dishes packed with the rich, vibrant flavors of Polynesia, Micronesia, and Melanesia.
The menu is a true celebration of the Pacific, featuring bold and comforting dishes that transport diners straight to the islands. Think succulent slow-roasted meats, coconut-infused curries, and fresh seafood kissed by fire and smoke. Guests can dive into Chamoru barbecue ribs, rich with a deep, smoky glaze, or savor Tongan-style lu pulu, tender corned beef wrapped in taro leaves and slow-cooked in creamy coconut milk. From fluffy Hawaiian sweet rolls to crispy taro chips paired with tropical salsas, every bite bursts with tradition and soul. And for those with a sweet tooth? The house-made haupia (coconut pudding) and guava chiffon cake are pure island bliss.
'Opening a restaurant in today’s economic climate is no walk on the beach, but the Pasifika crew is up for the challenge. With rising costs and industry hurdles, their commitment to consistency, creativity, and authenticity is already paying off, with Pasifika quickly gaining a reputation as the ultimate Island Reunion Spot. Friends and families who haven’t seen each other in years are reconnecting over shared meals, creating an atmosphere bursting with energy.
"We’ve created the coolest ‘vortex’ of Islanders," Mose adds. "Old classmates, teammates, co-workers—people who haven’t crossed paths in ages are reconnecting right here at our tables. The energy? Absolutely electric."
Adding to the excitement, the restaurant has already hosted notable guests from the sports, music, and TV worlds. One particularly unforgettable moment? An impromptu performance by American Idol winner Iam Tongi, who dined with his family and treated guests to a surprise serenade.
Looking ahead, the team is dreaming big, with plans to expand their island hospitality to even more Pasifika locations. They’re no strangers to bringing good food to the people—alongside Pasifika, they also run Saimin Says, a Hawaiian/Chamoru food storefront in Renton, WA, and CATER4YOU, a powerhouse in large-scale corporate catering.
For now, the focus is simple: keep the good vibes rolling, serve up unforgettable flavors, and make every guest feels like a member of the family.
