City of Burlington seeks public input on Cascade Bridge project

Burlington city leaders want to know what people think about the future of a bridge that’s been closed for more than seven years. The Cascade Bridge will be torn down and replaced.

People who live there can respond to a survey available on the city’s website. The new bridge will have a historic center. People can share their ideas about that as well. City planners want the new bridge and center to honor the past.

“The old bridge is a historic bridge, and we don’t want to forget about its memory” said Jesse Howe, deputy public works director for the city. “We want to commemorate that in a meaningful way. Part of the survey goes into what kind of history do we want to portray in this interpretive center that we’re building.”

Howe says they’re planning on making a documentary about the history of the bridge that will be available via QR code at the center.

He Weighs Just 3 Pounds, But Tiny Colbert is Carrying a Whole Lot of Hope

Meet Colbert, a four-month-old Chihuahua at Forever Paws Animal Shelter in Fall River, Massachusetts, who weighs in at an eye-popping three pounds and is now looking for a home. In a recent post introducing the tiny pup, the shelter emphasized just how small Colbert is: “Colbert is 3 pounds. Yes, 3. Not 13. Not 30. 3,” adding that it’s “less than a gallon of milk” and joking that it’s “about the weight of an average human brain.” Despite the miniature size, the message from Forever Paws is clear: Colbert is a puppy with a big personality, and the shelter is hoping the right adopter will be ready for the responsibility that comes with such a small, energetic dog.
