Police searching for suspects who KO’d one cop, injured another (VIDEO)
POUGHKEEPSIE – One city officer was knocked unconscious on Sunday night and a second one was injured after a man tried to flee from a traffic stop by ramming police cars. The 10:00 pm incident occurred on the 600 block of Main Street near the intersection with Church Street.
Attempted murder suspect charged in violent Poughkeepsie attack released on $1,350 bail
Rakim Paulin, 43, was released on Wednesday after the ruling found the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office failed to prosecute the case against the defendant within 90 days while Paulin was behind bars without bail, as required under the state’s new bail reform laws.
Poughkeepsie Man Convicted In Fatal Stabbing of Roommate
Dutchess County resident Andrew Alex Fraser of Poughkeepsie was convicted of murder on Monday, May 13, after two days of jury deliberations. According to the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office, Fraser killed Dontay Brown, age 24, during a knife attack, which resulted in a fatal stab wound into Brown’s skull, on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. at 25 South Grand Ave., in the City of Poughkeepsie.

Car chase that began in Liberty ends in Newburgh
NEWBURGH – What began as a car chase when a vehicle ran over fire hoses in Liberty on Sunday ended in the City of Newburgh with the arrest of two people. Police said the car sped east on Route 17 to Interstate 84 in the Town of Wallkill where the pursuit was terminated.

Dozens of students and others who were arrested at the SUNY New Paltz protest on May 2 showed up at the New Paltz town court for their arraignment on May 14. Most were unwilling to speak on the record. One who did speak was college senior Aiden Vasiu-Rogers, who was appearing without an attorney. Charged with trespassing — as were most of those arrested when police officers dispersed the protestors — Vasiu-Rogers described the experience as “terrible, sad, haunting.” Many others did have legal representation. Civil rights attorney Michael Sussman gathered clients on the grass outside the justice center to explain the arraignment process and hold forth on the rights protected in the U.S. and state constitutions.
