Hornell Burger King event will show off new 'sizzle' redesign Nov. 7

Burger King in Hornell will show off its new "sizzle" restaurant redesign and treat guests to special giveaways, prizes, free samples and other surprises at a public ribbon cutting celebration on Saturday, Nov. 7. After closing for roughly two months to complete the interior and exterior remodel, the Hornell BK at 45 Main St. reopened Oct. 6 with a whole new look and added features, including digital ordering kiosks, an enhanced drive-thru, a designated pick-up area and signature interior design elements like the new “King Booth." “We’re excited to bring this newly remodeled restaurant to the Hornell community,” said Don McIntyre, Burger King Division Vice President. “After years of serving guests in the community, we can’t wait for them to experience this state-of-the-art design and create new memories for years to come.” The new “Sizzle” design concept is an extension of the brand’s goal to achieve an 85-90% modern image across the U.S. by 2028, fueled by more than $700 million in investments since the brand announced its “Reclaim the Flame” strategy in 2022. The National Comedy Center is opening its doors to caregivers as part of its first Susan Sargent Caregiver Week. The week will honor caregivers supporting loved ones through illness, disability or other conditions requiring care. Presented during National Family Caregivers Month and reflecting its 2026 theme, “Care Connects Us,” the initiative will offer complimentary museum admission November 9 through November 15, 2026 for each caregiver and the loved one receiving their care. Caregivers are also welcome to visit on their own for a personal moment of respite. Participants will receive take-home resources to bring laughter and connection into their caregiving relationships.

Southern Tier trails are a gem. Summit aims to take them to next level

A day-long Southern Tier Greenways Planning Summit, hosted by Parks & Trails New York, took stock of the greenway trail plans already in motion across the region and tackled what it will take to link them into a connected regional network. The event, held Nov. 5 at the Corning Museum of Glass, focused on the eight-county Southern Tier Regional Economic Development region, which includes Steuben, Schuyler, Chemung, Tompkins, Tioga, Broome, Chenango and Delaware counties. The event paired project updates from local and regional partners with hands-on working sessions on the challenges and opportunities ahead. Kamala Keeley, President of Three Rivers Development Corporation, said trails, waterways and parks aren't amenities on the side; they're part of what makes a region a place people choose to build a life. “When our employers recruit engineers, nurses, and skilled trades, candidates want to know what life looks like outside of work," Keeley said. "Every connected mile of trail strengthens our answer, and it helps us keep the talented people who are already here.” Keeley said the Southern Tier is losing population, particularly residents who are between 25 and 44 years old.
