Funding Available for Drone Detection of Harmful Weeds in North Dakota's Sugar Beet and Soybean Fields
Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring has announced $275,000 in funding for drone detection of Palmer amaranth and other harmful weeds in North Dakota. The 68th Legislative Assembly authorized this funding for projects in sugar beet and soybean fields in Traill, Cass, Richland, and Barnes counties for the 2024 growing season.

Matt Olson Named Forest Stewardship Manager
LISBON, N.D. (NDSU) – The NDSU-North Dakota Forest Service welcomes Matt Olson as the new Forest Stewardship Manager. Olson started on December 1, 2023, and is located in the Lisbon field office. He will be responsible for managing the Forest Stewardship program. This program provides technical assistance statewide to private forest landowners and partner agency staff for the sustainable management of windbreaks, native upland, and riparian forests. He says, I look forward to helping people who want to become better stewards of their trees, to find resources needed to accomplish their goals.

Valley City Community Band Christmas Concert Dec. 7th
VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The Valley City Community Band (now in its second year) invites you all to attend their Christmas Concert, Thursday, December 7th at 7 PM in the performance hall of the Center for the Fine Arts Building. Under the direction of Rochelle Jimenez, the VCCB (Valley City Community Band) will offer a variety of Christmas music (along with a special tribute to those who served at Pearl Harbor). Jimenez, a VCSU graduate, is the current music teacher for Maple Valley Public Schools where she teachers K-12 Music. She was instrumental in beginning the Valley City Community Band last year and has grown the group.
