Former Starting Quarterback Announces Transfer Decision Close To Home

Mark Stoops’ Kentucky Wildcats added a new weapon to the offensive arsenal with a quarterback commitment from the transfer portal. Former Rutgers Scarlet Knights quarterback Gavin Wimsatt announced his commitment to the Wildcats on his Instagram Tuesday.

“Over the course of three seasons, Wimsatt had 2,537 yards, 14 touchdowns, 17 interceptions, a 47.8% completion percentage, 628 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns.” On3’s Steve Samra reported.

Wimsatt recently came into competition with former Minnesota Golden Gophers quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis after his transfer to Rutgers this offseason. Wimsatt was a four-star high school recruit in 2021 ranking as the No. 3 player from Kentucky, No. 24 quarterback and No. 220 overall prospect according to On3’s Industry Rankings.

The dual-threat quarterback should provide the Wildcats the opportunity to bring a new wrinkle to its offense and stay a step ahead of rival SEC defenses come this fall.
