LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – The West Virginia Daily News is excited to announce our annual Greenbrier Humane Society item drive from April 1-April 30. Once again, the WVDN office is a drop-off point for pet products that will be delivered by our staff to the Greenbrier Humane Society.

Your donations to the Humane Society item drive are a powerful way to directly impact the lives of animals in need, offering them comfort, security, and hope for a better tomorrow. These drives play a crucial role in supporting the mission of the Humane Society and ensuring that animals receive the care and resources they require.

Participating in a Humane Society item drive allows individuals to contribute essential supplies. These items not only provide physical comfort but also contribute to the mental well-being of animals, helping to reduce stress and anxiety in unfamiliar environments.
Moreover, item drives help alleviate the financial burden on the Humane Society, enabling them to allocate resources towards critical services such as veterinary care, spaying and neutering programs, and animal welfare initiatives. By donating items, individuals directly support the daily operations of the Humane Society and ensure that animals receive the care they deserve.

Participation in a Humane Society item drive fosters a sense of community and collective responsibility towards animal welfare. It brings people together with a shared goal of making a positive impact on the lives of animals, promoting empathy, compassion and a sense of unity in the fight against animal cruelty and neglect.

In essence, engaging in a Humane Society item drive is not just about donating goods; it is about making a meaningful difference in the lives of animals, demonstrating our commitment to creating a more compassionate and humane world for all living beings. The Greenbrier Valley always comes through with donations. Last year, we reached our goal of collecting over 2000 items for the Humane Society. Let’s do this again this year! Our goal is to have these items collected by Tuesday, April 30.

After speaking with the Humane Society, here is a list of items they need: Clip-on and slip leashes, dry dog and cat food, bleach, HE laundry detergent, dryer sheets, Clorox wipes, dog and cat treats, toys, non-clumping cat litter, collars (medium and large), paper towels, 13-gallon trash bags, Dawn dish soap, cat beds and litter scoopers.

The Greenbrier Humane Society is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., for adoptions or to pick up spay/neuter vouchers. Pictures and descriptions of animals ready for adoption are available on the Humane Society‘s Facebook page. The available pets are updated frequently.

Anyone wishing to donate to the WVDN item Drive can drop off pet care products at the West Virginia Daily News office at 188 Foster St. in Lewisburg between 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Thursday. Let’s get started and keep those items coming!
