    Lamesa man killed in two-vehicle crash in Dawson County

    Texas Department of Safety troopers are investigating a two-vehicle crash Thursday in Dawson County that left an 89-year-old Lamesa man dead and injured a a 37-year-old Lubbock man.

    Troopers responded to the crash reported about 3 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 87 and County Road L, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety news release.

    Crash investigators believe a 2023 Toyota Camry, driven by John Villalobos of Lubbock, was traveling east on County Road L, ignored a stop sign and crashed into a 2019 GMC Acadia driven by Rex Zant of Lamesa that was traveling south on U.S. 87.

    Zant was taken to Medical Arts Hospital in Lamesa where he died, the report states.

    Villalobos, who suffered serious injury, was taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock for treatment.

    No arrests have been made, the report states.
