Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms persist throughout the day
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - Today started off pretty gloomy with those overcast skies and rain showers in the early morning hours and it will continue to rain on our parade (literally) with more rain showers coming up in the next couple hours. In the evening hours we are also going to start to see some non-severe thunderstorms. Our highs today are going to drop down below season average today with temperatures in the low 70s for the lower elevations but, our highs will be getting higher on Thursday as we start a slight warming trend getting into the high 70s in the lowlands. Also on Thursday we are going to start to get another break from the bad weather! Thursday does see some chances for some very scattered showers but the chances will get even lower going into the evening hours and into the morning on Friday. Former longtime WDTV employee in need of liver transplant
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - A former, longtime WDTV employee is in need of a liver transplant, according to a GoFundMe page created by her daughter. Cassie Busdeker has been battling cirrhosis of the liver caused by a rare disease Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, according to her daughter Alex. She has been battling the disease for the last year and a half, and their family is finally in the last steps of getting her a new liver, Alex said.
Federal prisoner at FCI Gilmer sentenced for mailing threats
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WDTV) - A federal prisoner at Federal Correctional Institution Gilmer was sentenced to additional time in prison Monday. Stephen Elbert Boykin, 52, was sentenced to an additional 51 months - a little over four years - for mailing threats directed at government officials and family members, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Along with that our highs today are forecasted to get up into the 80s for most of us in the lowlands. Some cloud coverage is expected to roll in tonight and then, Tuesday morning rain and possibly a few thunderstorms are going to start coming into our area as a cold front begins to roll through. This trend will continue into Wednesday with the possibility of a few heavier rain showers as well.
