    Track and field: Lodi boys, girls edge Lakeside in dual meet title chase; Warriors win 16 events

    Lakeside Lutheran’s boys and girls track and field teams each lost to Lodi by matching 74-72 scores in a Capitol North meet at LMHS on Tuesday, April 23.

    The Warriors swept both duals with Lake Mills. The L-Cats finished 0-2 in girls and boys competition.

    Lakeside’s boys posted eight first place finishes on the day and several more in the top three.

    Junior Ben Krauklis won the 100 meter dash in a personal best 10.95 seconds while junior Issiah Sampson was second in 11.45.

    Krauklis posted another PR in winning the 200 in 22.18. Senior Alex Reinke was second in 22.59.

    Seniors Karsten Grundahl, Reinke and Daniel Ertman swept the top three spots in the 400. Grundahl won in a personal best 50.45. Reinke was second in 52.52 and Ertman was third in 53.43.

    The Warriors also swept the 800. Senior Cameron Weiland won in 2:01.48. Senior Gideon Ewerdt was second in 2:04.48 and senior Mark Garcia was third in 2:06.44.

    Junior Will Hemling was second in the 1,600 in 4:56.41 while junior Jack Simmons was third in 5:11.26. Sophomore Grant Schmid placed second in the 3,200 in 11:09.95.

    Senior Joey Dretske was second in the 110 high hurdles in 16.97. Freshman Jack Thiele was third in 45.18.

    The 400 relay team of junior Josef Rupnow, sophomore Tyler Schuld, senior Tyler Tauscheck and Sampson placed second in 46.23.

    The 800 relay team of Rupnow, junior Tyler Dahlie, Sampson and Krauklis won in 1:33.03. The 1,600 relay team of Dahlie, Thiele, Krundahl and Reinke won in 3:35.03.

    The 3,200 relay team Gracia, Ewerdt, Ertman and sophomore Grant Schmid took third in 8:58.21.

    Dahlie won the high jump (6-2) and the triple jump (43- 1/4). Junior Kammeron Magritz took second in the long jump (19-9).

    Junior Brandon Genz finished second in the pole vault (10-0). Junior Carson Frisch was third in the high (5-6).

    Lakeside’s girls posted eight first place finishes and several more in the top three.

    Junior Cecilia Krahn won the 100 in 13.70 while sophomore Sophia Rhyner was third in 13.98. Junior Ella Schuetz won the 200 in 28.62 while freshman Taryn Jobke was third in 29.38.

    The Warriors swept the top three spots in the 400. Senior Paige Krahn won in 1:06.28, freshman Grace Gall was second in 1:06.81 and junior Mara Minning was third in 1:10.23.

    Junior Ashley Rosenau took third in the 800 in 2:44.25.

    Sophomore Molly Wiedenfeld was second in the 1,600 in 6:15.59.

    Freshmen Hannah Minning and Natalie Schultz placed first and second, respectively, in the 3,200 in 13:12.30 and 13:29.94.

    The 400 relay team of senior Claire Heinrich, Jobke, Rhyner and Cecilia Krahn won in 54.94. The 800 relay team of Cecilia Krahn, Jobke, Schuetz and Rhyner won in 1:52.78.

    The 1,600 relay team of junior Kate Thiele, Mara Minning, Gall and Paige Krahn won in 4:32.40. The 3,200 relay team of Hannah Minning, Paige Krahn, Rosenau and senior Amelia Povich won in 10:56.63.

    Senior Brielle Leis placed second in the shot put (33-11) and discus (95-11). Sophomore Sophia Bostetter was third in the discus (95-0).

    Schuetz finished third in the high jump (4-8) and the long jump (14-8). Jobke was second in the pole vault (7-0). Mara Minning was third in the triple jump (28-10).

    The Lake Mills girls were led by senior Ava Vesperman, who won the 800 in 2:40.90. Junior Savannah Overhouse placed third in the 1,600 in 6:48.15. Senior Kate Gero took third in the 100 hurdles in 18.17. Junior Nina Sehmer was third in the 300 hurdles in 54.93.

    The 1,600 relay team of freshman Veronica Kressner, Vesperman, sophomore Asha Herald and Sehmer finished third in 4:51.01. The 3,200 relay team of Vesperman, Herald, Kressner and Sehmer took second in 11:36.80.

    The Lake Mills boys were led by junior Tommy Cassady, who swept the shot put (49-4) and the discus (128-6).

    The 1,600 relay team of sophomore Max Springer, junior Chet Klawitter, senior Nathan Brzowski and senior Jack Phillips finished third in 3:59.04. The 3,200 relay team of Phillips, juniors Max Kressner, Braxton Walter and Saul Phillips won in 8:51.88.

    Walter was third in the 3,200 in 11:19.42. Junior Mason Fuglestad took third in the long jump (19-8 3/4).
