Ty Schaefer drove in three runs and Wyatt Werner had three hits to lead Lake Mills offensively in a 10-1 home win over Deerfield in nonconference play on Monday.

With two outs in the first inning, Werner singled home Schaefer before Brody Henderson swiped home on a double steal. Schaefer singled home a pair in the second.

Lake Mills (5-4) broke the game open with six runs on six hits in the third. Alex Parys’ RBI double made it 5-0 and was the first of four straight run-scoring knocks. Schaefer and Henderson followed with singles before a two-run double by Cooper Murphy made it 9-0.

Hunter Frohmader pitched a complete-game two-hitter for the L-Cats. He allowed an unearned run and struck out six while walking three, throwing 56 of his 99 pitches for strikes.

    TUESDAY’S RESULTS

Senior Brody Henderson homered twice, including a grand slam in the fifth inning, as Lake Mills’ baseball team pummeled Poynette 11-0 in its Capitol North opener at Campus Field on Tuesday.

Henderson smoked a 2-0 pitch with one out in the third over the fence in center for a solo blast to give the L-Cats (4-3, 1-0 in conference) a 2-0 lead.

With two away in the fourth, Alex Parys doubled home Mason Flood on a line-shot to right field.

Lake Mills then plated eight runs in the fifth to enact the 10-run rule. Max Stelter, Flood and Madden Keith contributed RBI singles before Henderson’s two-out grand slam ended it. Henderson greeted reliever Wyatt Breuch by launching a 1-2 offering out to left field.

Ace Everson pitched five shutout innings of one-hit ball with four strikeouts and no walks to earn the victory.
