Beach mats that provide wheelchair access to Lake Michigan are installed at the Clark Street Beach. The mats were placed at five Evanston beaches – Lighthouse, Clark Street, Greenwood, Lee Street, South Boulevard and the Dempster Sailing Facility. “I see more parents using the Mobi-mats than people in wheelchairs, which is fine,” said Tim Carter, of the Parks and Recreation Department. But he wants more people in wheelchairs to be aware that the city offers free beach wheelchairs at two beaches. “We need to get the word out,” Carter said. ETHS girls softball: New Trier teaches Wildkits clutch lesson
Archrival New Trier High School showed Evanston Township High School’s girls softball team on Monday just how it’s done with two outs. The Trevians scored all 7 of their runs with two-out hits and completed a season sweep of the Wildkits with a 7-5 triumph in a Central Suburban League South division game at ETHS.

Softball: Northwestern punches sixth consecutive NCAA tournament ticket
Three days removed from a 4-3 loss to Indiana in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals, Northwestern awaited its NCAA tournament fate during Sunday’s selection show. After securing first-round hosting rights two years in a row, the Wildcats (33-11, 19-3 Big Ten) received an at-large bid and will head to Austin, Texas, for this year’s opening round alongside No. 1 Texas, Siena, and Saint Francis (Penn.).

Northwestern attacker and Clarkston, Michigan native Izzy Scane broke the Division I record for women's lacrosse goals on Sunday in the NCAA Tournament.Scane scored her 359th career goal in 81 games in the first period against Denver, snapping a tie with Charlotte North for the top spot. North had 358 goals in 87 games for Boston College and Duke from 2018-22.Scane, who grew up in Michigan and graduated from Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood, finished with five goals and an assist in Northwestern's 17-4 victory.
