Bicyclist killed in hit-and-run in Highland Park was school board member
HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. (CBS) -- Police in Highland Park were searching Friday evening for the driver who hit a bicyclist and then took off – leaving the victim to die.Highland Park police and fire crews were called at 12:37 p.m. to Deerfield and Piccadilly roads, where they found the bicyclist severely injured. Four Arlington Heights men charged for March robbery in Dixon
DIXON, Ill. (WIFR) - Four men face burglary charges in a March home invasion in Dixon, Ill. On Tuesday Mike Miller, 52, and Buddy Mason, 22, both of Arlington Heights, Ill., were taken into custody in Gurnee, Ill. Both men were later transported to Lee County jail. Two others, Lawrence Miller, 29, and Sam Mason, 26, were taken into custody in April on unrelated charges. Both Lawrence and Sam are housed at the DuPage County jail.
Kenosha Man Accused of Carjacking Woman in Lake County Released from Hospital and Charged
(Waukegan, IL) A Kenosha man accused of carjacking a woman near Volo last year has finally been charged, after being released from a rehabilitation facility. Authorities say Gary Hollis was severely injured after the March 2022 incident in which he is accused of forcing a woman out of her car, then crashing that vehicle a short time later. Now that he has been released, the 30-year-old faces one count of vehicular hijacking. Bond was set at 250-thousand-dollars with a court date set for June 28th.
Illinois health officials warn of Salmonella outbreak linked to ground beef in Chicago area
The Illinois Department of Public Health issued a warning Wednesday regarding a Salmonella outbreak in the Chicago area that has been linked to ground beef. State health officials confirmed 26 cases of Salmonella, with cases being reported in Chicago as well as DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, Will and suburban Cook counties.
Cook County man found with cannabis, handgun during traffic stop; 15-year-old also taken into custody
EVANSTON, Ill. - A juvenile and a 19-year-old man were taken into custody in Evanston after being found with handguns over the weekend. Nathan Norman, 19, of Skokie, was charged with one felony count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, one felony count of possession of 10 to 30 grams of cannabis with intent to deliver, one misdemeanor count of possession of a handgun without a FOID card and several traffic citations.
