    15 Giants and 8 Raiders recognized for college commitments

    North Shore Country Day and Highland Park High School recently held spring ceremonies to recognize student-athletes who will compete at the collegiate level.

    Fifteen Giants were honored during a ceremony on May 8 at the high school.

    They were:

    BASEBALL
    • Luke Weber (P) – University of Illinois
    • Michael Pasquesi – Webster University
    DIVING
    • Noam Kulbak – Penn State University
    FOOTBALL
    • David Finfer (QB) – Augustana College
    • Tyler Gleyzer (LB) – University of Wisconsin at La Crosse
    • Alex Knight (DL) – Kenyon College
    • Eli Secher (OL) – University of Wisconson-La Crosse
    • Sebastian Vybral (K) – North Central College
    SOCCER
    • Jill Maigue – Occidental College
    • Lukaas Nales – University of Vermont
    TENNIS
    • Evan Glebov – Marquette University
    TRACK AND FIELD
    • Russell Czerwinski – Marquette University
    • Barak Goldstein – American University (and cross-country)
    • Nate Wehner – Pomona College (and cross-country)
    WRESTLING
    • Dmitry Derbedyenyev – New York University

    A few days earlier, eight Raiders were recognized on May 2 at North Shore Country Day

    “Each of you is joining a new team and you’ll be making lifelong friends and memories. Embrace this new challenge with enthusiasm, and never forget where you came from,” Athletic Director Patrick McHugh said to the seniors at the ceremony. “And remember, success is not just measured by wins and losses, but also by the impact you make on others, the lessons you learn, and the person you become. So work hard, stay humble and enjoy the journey.”

    Celebrated were: Daniel Becker , of Glenview, who will play soccer for Hamilton College in Clinton, New York; Jackson Berner , of Glenview, who will play baseball for the University of Chicago; Aram Dombalagian , of Glenview, who will play baseball for Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota; Smith Flickinger , of Winnetka, who will play soccer for Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York; Max Greenberg Winnick , of Evanston, who will play golf for Hamilton College in Clinton, New York; Owen Keyt , of Wilmette, will run track and field and cross country for Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, California; Trafton O’Brien , of Wilmette, who will play baseball for Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts; and Aramis Thai-Garcia , of Northbrook, who will take a gap year before heading to Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, California, to run track and field and cross country.
