Mother's Day is Sunday, and if you're unsure of what to get your mom this year, treat her to a good time at an Acadiana restaurant, or find the right gift to best honor her.

According to a study conducted by the National Retail Federation, a nearly three quarters of those celebrating Mother’s Day plan to send flowers. Treating Mom to a Mother’s Day dinner or brunch is also a popular option, according to a news release.

The study shows the most popular gifts to give by percentage purchased are flowers (74%), greeting cards (74%), and special outings such as dinner or brunch (59%).

If you planning to spend more on actual gifts, the NRF said jewelry comes in fourth with 40% of purchases, personal services at 32% and 21% of purchases are on electronics. This year, online (35%) remains the most popular shopping destination, followed by department stores (32%), specialty stores (29%) and local or small businesses (25%), the NFR release said.

Here are some great gift ideas for online or in-store purchasing:

    • Upgrade her favorite appliance
    • Handmade jewelry with special initials, mother's name, or quotes
    • Gift card to a favorite store, or restaurant
    • Custom blanket, photo frame, or coffee mug
    • Selfcare package with candles, tasty treats
    • PJs, written letters, or a Spa voucher.

For those looking for a special outing, such as dinner or brunch, planning ahead is essential to ensure availability.
