LADSON, S.C. (WCBD) — State troopers are seeking public help identifying a second suspect driver in a hit-and-run that killed a motorcyclist Friday night.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the motorist who struck Christopher Ashley while attempting to get onto Oakmount Avenue around 8:41 p.m. was driving a blue 2019-2023 Ford Ranger.

Authorities say the truck should have front-end damage. If you have information, you are asked to contact Highway Patrol at 843-953-6010 or 1-800-768-1501. If you wish to remain anonymous, call Lowcountry Crime Stoppers.

After the Ford Ranger struck Ashley, he was ejected from the motorcycle into the westbound lanes on Ladson Road, where he was struck by a second vehicle driven by Jeannie Reagan Polite.

A second passenger was onboard the motorcycle when the collision occurred. That passenger was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
