MDOT provides new info about upcoming I-75 interchange project in Gaylord
The I-75/M-32 diverging diamond interchange (DDI) project is set to get underway in Gaylord this fall, but the Michigan Department of Transportation wants to make sure drivers know how to navigate the new interchange once it is complete. The project’s website has been recently updated with new information, including the construction schedule, detours and navigation videos for drivers. As part of the $54 million project, MDOT plans to replace the northbound and southbound I-75 bridges over M-32 and rebuild M-32 between Edelweiss Village Parkway/Meecher Road and Wisconsin Avenue. The interchange will also be reconfigured as a DDI, which MDOT describes as “an alternative interchange that improves safety, increases traffic flow and can reduce construction costs.” The design was chosen based on community input and engineering review. Historic Harrisville Train Depot receives roofing stabilization through DAR grant
HARRISVILLE, Mich. — A 125-year-old train depot in northern Michigan has taken a significant step toward preservation after completing essential roofing stabilization work made possible through a national historic preservation grant. The nonprofit Friends of the Harrisville Train Depot, Inc. finished the roofing project on the 1901-era Historic Harrisville Train Depot using funds from a matching grant provided by the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Historic Preservation Grant program. The local organization successfully matched the DAR grant through community support from multiple sources, including the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan, individual and family donations, and proceeds from their Depot Community Yard Sale and Pig Roast Fundraiser programs. The River Aux Sables Chapter NSDAR in Oscoda, Michigan, sponsored and supported the grant application. The DAR has maintained historic preservation as one of its three primary mission areas since its founding in 1890, alongside patriotism and education. The Harrisville depot project was selected through a competitive national application process managed by DAR Historic Preservation Grants, which provides financial assistance for projects that preserve historic records, objects and sites across the country. This roofing stabilization represents Phase II of the multi-phased Historic Harrisville Michigan Train Depot Stabilization and
