La Crosse school board schedules public meetings about the district's proposed referendum

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- The La Crosse Board of Education will be hosting public information meetings on its proposed November referendum.

During Monday's school board meeting, members planned the upcoming listening sessions and considered how to promote the consolidation plan.

In April, the board finalized language for a referendum that, if passed, would close three of the district's elementary schools.

The board has set three dates in May and one in June for public meetings on the referendum.

Two in-person meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, May 22 and Tuesday, May 28. Those will start at 6 p.m. The locations are pending.

There are also two virtual meetings scheduled. Those are set for Tuesday, May 21 and Thursday, June 6, both at noon.

During Monday's meeting, Superintendent Dr. Aaron Engel also mentioned the possibility of the district working with a local organization to help spread information about the referendum.
