Runners gear-up for the La Crosse Marathon

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- The 2024 La Crosse Marathon consisted of 3 different courses with varying difficulties.

There was a full marathon, a half marathon, as well as a 5k run-walk.

The full marathon started in Sparta, and all courses ended at Riverside Park in La Crosse.

Chris Pahnke was the winner of this year's half-marathon. He said he enjoys the tranquility of running.

"We're out there for like 10 miles with nobody, and it's kinda nice just the calmness", said Pahnke.

The River City Running Club also hosted a shoe recycling drop off, offering shoes a second-life rather than throwing them out.
