This Ohio BBQ Joint Sells Out So Fast People Line Up Before Sunrise
Ohio has a funny habit of hiding unforgettable meals where the roads get quieter, and the appetite gets louder. I followed the rumor of a barbecue spot that draws a crowd before most people have finished their first cup of coffee, and by the time I stepped out of the car, the smoky air alone had me acting like I had made the best decision of the week.

Millbury native wins best actress award
The stage has always felt like home for Christina Pinciotti, first through a decade of dance and now because of acting. The Millbury, Ohio, native, is a University of Toledo graduate where she studied both theater and communications, receiving her degree in 2017. She credits much of her training to her time after graduation at the Purple Rose Theatre Company in Chelsea, Mich., where she worked with and learned from professional actors. She then moved to Chicago in 2020 for more opportunity in the industry and to grow her career. “Chicago seemed like the next logical step,” Pinciotti said, noting a big city felt like the right move to elevate what she was already working toward. Her most recent work is her lead role in the feature film Looking at Madness where she plays the character Zoe, a struggling theatre actress in Chicago. To get into character, the actress said she first memorized the whole script as if it were a play, and focused on little details like wearing certain jewelry that made her feel more like Zoe. “Zoe and I have a lot of similar characteristics,” she said. “What the movie is about is something I’m essentially living. Van Wert showcases local performers at 2026 Ohio Has Talent event
VAN WERT, Ohio (WLIO) - Van Wert held their annual "Ohio Has Talent" showcase this evening, with 15 finalists to entertain the crowd. Saturday's contestants varied from vocalists, to instrumentalists, to juggle acts. With a different genre being performed by each contestant, the audience was able to stay entertained during the entire show. Not only was the audience there to support their favorite performer, but it was up to the people to make call on the winner of the 2026 Ohio Has Talent contestant. This gave the audience the "judge's seat” and allowed for a more interactive experience. The event was also held for a good cause.

Acoustics for Autism finds the magic formula
Four things go into the making of Acoustics for Autism: leadership, sponsorship, musicianship, and volunteerism. But it’s the audience that makes the annual uptown Maumee musical event come alive. Anthony Beck, who plays rhythm guitar and sings in the Skittle Bots, one of the marquee acts this year, says the attendees at Acoustics for Autism are different from those in other audiences. “You’re playing in front of your peers,” he said. “We usually don’t have time to see other local bands, but here you can see your musician brethren. If you’re a musician in Toledo, Acoustics for Autism is the finish line.” “It’s like after the Grammys when all the winning musicians are corralled together at the end of the show,” added his bandmate, Scott Biddle, who handles lead guitar and vocals for the group. “It’s community and competition, because you know all your friends are here.” The Skittle Bots, known for unlikely medleys of hits from the 1990s, is a perennial Acoustics for Autism favorite. The band’s name is a spoonerism — a transposition of the initial sounds of Mr. Biddle’s last and first names. Mr. Beck has performed at the event in different bands since its very first

LinedUp instructor's boots are made for dancing at Whiskey Red Saloon
Every Wednesday night, Melanie Kempton turns her back to a crowd and starts dancing. Line dancing, that is. From 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays at Whiskey Red Saloon, Kempton shows all comers how to heel-twist and shuffle. Designed for dancers all facing the same direction and not in physical contact with each other, line dancing pairs a song with a choreographed sequence of steps. Unlike most dance lessons, Kempton teaches by facing the wall so her students can see her perform the steps from the same vantage point they practice from. She still remembers the lesson that showed the word was out. Kempton had arrived early at the Jefferson Avenue venue to check her setup: her microphone, the sound system, the playlist, even her own feet. “I turned around to say hello and greet them, and the floor was just packed front to back, side to side. It was the coolest experience to see the whole dance floor packed,” Kempton said. Now, every week is like that. The former high school teacher founded LinedUp: Line Dancing after responding to an instructor’s open call for trainee teachers at the Maumee-BG Elks social lodge. Soon, she started posting dance videos on
