Angie's bringing upscale fast food for low prices to north Fort Worth
Angie’s fast-food chain, known for serving lobster rolls and USDA prime steak, is opening a Fort Worth restaurant, according to state licensing documents . The restaurant was created by Salad and Go founders Tony and Roushan Christofellis after Tony’s mom, Angie, passed away. They wanted to honor her memory by starting a fast-casual restaurant that served high-quality, “luxury” food at a price that most people could afford. Angie’s menu is made up of USDA prime beef, antibiotic-free chicken, wild caught seafood and other ingredients, organic and free from added preservatives. Salads with chicken start as cheap as $5, steak as little as $7.99 and salmon or shrimp for $11.49. To cater to the true fast-food audience, Angie’s serves burgers and fried chicken and even copycat Taco Bell crunch wrap supremes. But customers also have the option to make a healthy salad, bowl or wrap. How does Angie’s sell fine dining items for fast-food prices? Now, how does Angie’s sell a Maine-imported lobster roll for $16.99? Or a steak Caesar salad for $9.99? Well, according to its website , the restaurant saves money on the business model rather than the supplies. “Think of what Walmart did to retail, what Amazon did

Hunky’s at 42: The Cedar Springs Burger Joint That Helped Build a Neighborhood
In August 1984, Oak Lawn was still rough around the edges. Cedar Springs Road had the bars and a few brave storefronts, and not much else. That was the summer brothers Rick and David Barton opened a little hamburger counter near the corner of Cedar Springs and Throckmorton and called it Hunky’s.

Baked Alaska Is Back, and Here’s Where to Find It in DFW
Baked Alaska shouldn’t work. You put ice cream in a hot oven, or hold a torch to it, and it doesn’t melt. The trick is the meringue. All those beaten egg whites trap air, and air is a lousy conductor of heat, so the outside browns while the ice cream inside stays frozen solid on its cake base. It’s a little kitchen physics dressed up as a party.
