Summit County’s annual Trails, Trash and Tunes event sets volunteer record
The Summit County Stormwater Coalition and the Summit County Planning Department organized the Trails, Trash and Tunes event to clean up litter around the Wanship trailhead and Rail Trail. It also featured a range of other opportunities for locals. Pixie and the Partygrass Boys played live music, there was a beer garden, food and kids activities hosted by the Summit County Library. Volunteers could also win prizes and learn about stormwater and noxious weeds.
Volunteers install Heber City Hall water fountain to beautify downtown
Heber City hosts a spring cleanup event every year to spruce up Main Street. Around 40 volunteers helped this year, about the same as years past. City Manager Matt Brower said the volunteers pull weeds, remove dead plants, pick up trash and this year got to help with a special project — installing a water fountain in front of City Hall.

The Park City Library will host one of the Utah Care for Kids events at Library Field from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 to highlight the child care crisis across the country. Garlic Mustard Games: Summit County locals help control noxious weeds
The nonprofit Summit Cooperative Weed Management Areas identifies and eliminates noxious weeds in the county. Project manager Sara Jo Dickens said noxious weeds are different from regular weeds. A regular weed is a “plant out of place,” while a noxious weed threatens the economy, including agricultural and recreational economies. Dickens said noxious weeds can also impact safety and natural resources.
Wasatch County planners approve private recreation center in Jordanelle Basin
Developer Rhett Riding with Storied Deer Valley LLC wants to build a private recreation center in Tuhaye, a private gated community in the Jordanelle Basin Overlay Zone. The recreation center, called the Adventure Camp Barn, would have offices, bike workshops, bike storage, restrooms and an outdoor climbing wall. Its primary purpose would be to rent out bikes and other recreational items.
