Rutland Town officials consider panhandling info signs outside local mall
RUTLAND TOWN, Vt. (WCAX) - Rutland Town officials are considering adding informational signs to cut down on panhandling after several skirmishes outside the Green Mountain Plaza. The town used to have laws against panhandling, but they were repealed in 2018. Police say the change has led to some recent fights.
Major $3 Billion Expansion Project Proposed for Killington, VT
With the largest footprint, most vertical, and best snowmaking east of the Mississippi, Killington, Vermont, is known as the “Beast of the East.” The town of roughly 1,400 people sees over a million tourist visits annually to its mountain slopes, however, one thing the resort lacks is a retail and residential center like other popular resorts in the state such as Stratton, Sugarbush, Smugglers’ Notch, and Stowe.
Killington Stage Race
After a one year hiatus, the Killington region welcomes the return of the 25th edition of this legendary New England stage race which started back in 1987. For 2024, the plan is to have at least six stage race fields depending on interest. Stage 1 is an thrilling circuit race that will take racers by President Calvin Coolidge’s birthplace and “Vermont summer White House.” Stage 2 is a classic and challenging hilly road race with a 5.5-mile, 1550 foot climb to the finish. Stage 3 provides a rare long ITT over 11 miles which has made for some thrillingly close final GC battles. $16,600 raised at art auction and pig roast for Neil family, Sunday
On Sunday, April 28, Liquid Art hosted and art auction to support the Neil family who’s Killington house burned down Jan. 24. Liquid Art’s Beth Sarandrea, the whimsical wood wizard Tyson Andrews, and a host of talented local artists outdid themselves with creative contributions raising $13,166. Additionally, Mogul’s owner Sal Salmeri contributed $3,500 from the annual Mogul’s Pig Roast (which also doubled as his retirement party this year) — a very generous donation! Together, $16,600 was raised.

Among these are the Jedi Trails event featuring Star Wars themed activities and free hotdogs, the Green Street festival at the Rutland Whoopie Pie Festival, and the Urban Legend Strolls taking place in various seasons, including a special ghost edition.
