Wasatch High School track is renamed to honor winning coach
Family, friends and former athletes recently gathered to dedicate Wasatch High School’s Tolley Track to a local legend. It’s ironic that when the winningest track-and-field coach in Wasatch High School’s history moved to Heber in 1964, there wasn’t even a track. But one of Coach Verle Tolley’s many legacies was ditching the school’s use of the cinder track at the county fairgrounds and replacing it with a modern rubberized field of dreams at the high school.
Salt Lake gang 'shot caller' charged with killing 2, now linked to 4th shooting
SANDY — A Salt Lake man already charged with killing two people at a party in 2021 has now been connected to another shooting in Sandy two days earlier. Patrocinio Perez, 21, was charged Thursday in 3rd District Court with discharge of a firearm causing injury, a second-degree felony, plus aggravated assault and seven counts of shooting in the direction of someone, third-degree felonies.

Heber man arrested for check fraud after he called police
The 34-year-old man called police Saturday, April 20, to intervene because he said a local business owner was harassing him with relentless phone calls. Officers contacted the owner, who runs a local check-cashing business. He told officers he’d been given bad checks totaling $7,000. His phone calls were an attempt to collect what he says he’s owed.
School board not yet convinced about Heber City revitalization plan
City leaders have a plan to enliven downtown Heber, and they want support from other local entities to help make it happen. On Tuesday, April 23, councilmembers presented their vision for the community reinvestment area at the school board’s study session.
