KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A Knox County roadway has reopened after it was blocked for several hours by a crash involving an overturned concrete truck.

The crash took place on E. Emory Road near Stormer Road around 11:30 a.m. Emergency crews arrived to find a fully-loaded concrete truck on its side blocking E. Emory Road with the driver trapped inside.

Crews worked for 2.5 hours to free the driver from the truck as they were forced to cut the truck cab piece by piece.

The driver was transported to a UT Trauma Center via LifeStar with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV remained at the scene of the crash and refused medical treatment.

Jeff Bagwell with Rural Metro Fire said that E. Emory Road has since reopened.
