(KRON) — A preliminary 2.5 earthquake was reported Thursday afternoon near Antioch, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). Brentwood man saves child from burning car on Highway 4
A Brentwood man is being called a hero after he saved a 3-year-old girl from a burning car in Contra Costa County. The incident was caught on camera. 40-year-old year Troy White described the rescue mode that kicked in, when he realized a little girl was trapped inside a burning car that had just crashed on Highway 4 Tuesday evening.
Crews contain separate Antioch fires
ANTIOCH, Calif. - Fire officials said two brush fires that broke out in Antioch on Thursday afternoon were contained without injuries or damage to structures. The first fire was reported shortly before 4 p.m. in the 1600 block of Slatten Ranch Road and charred 20 acres, according to Contra Costa County Fire Protection District spokesman Steve Aubert.

Antioch man gets federal prison for SF bank robbery committed while on parole
An Antioch man has been given over five years in federal prison for bank robbery, U.S. Attorney Ismail Ramsey said Wednesday. Brandon Elder, 29, pleaded guilty last December to bank robbery stemming from a 2022 crime in San Francisco. On Sept. 20, 2022, Elder entered a bank in the Marina District wearing a black hoodie, black facemask and blue gloves. He told the teller, "This is a robbery," and demanded $50s and $100 bills. The teller gave him over $10,000 in cash and Elder ran out of the building and into his car, which was parked in a nearby garage. ...
