WCC Graduate Named NC State Goodnight Scholar
Wayne Community College Associate in Science graduate Cooper Emory of Kinston has been named a Goodnight Scholar at North Carolina State University. Emory is one of 50 students selected for the Goodnight Scholars Program’s transfer class of 2027. He graduated from WCC this spring and will attend NC State in the fall.
Post 11 Softball Wins Home Opener
Defending state champion Wayne County Post 11 had three pitchers hold North Wake to just five hits in a 6-3 victory Monday night in their home opener at Rosewood High School. Wayne starter Hailey King allowed just one hit and one earned run through the first three innings while Riley Sutton (1-0) and Caden Sutton would keep North Wake at bay over the next four innings.
