TOWN OF KIRKWOOD, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) — A Kirkwood man is facing multiple felony robbery charges related to a string of gas station robberies and attempting to flee police, the Broome County Sheriff’s Office says.

Clint Loomis, 46, of Kirkwood, is now in custody following three separate gas station robberies in Sanitaria Springs, Windsor and the Village of Greene in just two days. On Thursday, May 9, 2024, a robbery report at the Speedway on Route 7 in Sanitaria Springs was given to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office. At 5:40 a.m., a man entered the store with a black T-shirt wrapped around his hand, implying he was holding a weapon and grabbed an entire cash register off the counter and fled the scene in a grey Ford F-150 pickup truck.

Less than one hour later, with police still checking camera footage from the Sanitaria Springs gas station, another robbery was reported at the Mirabito on Old Route 17 in Windsor. The description given was identical to the that of the Sanitaria Springs suspect. Even the method of robbery matched– black shirt around the hand demanding money from the cash register. A cashier opened the register, the man took the money and fled in his pickup truck.

One Loomis was identified, Sheriff Deputies and detectives began the search.

The next day, Friday, May 10, BCSO was alerted to another gas station robbery at around 7:45 p.m. in the Village of Greene in Chenango County. The description once again matched Loomis’ profile.

Dispersed across multiple roads in Broome and Chenango County, deputies identified Loomis’ vehicle in the Town of Chenango. Loomis pulled over claiming his tire was flat, then attempted to re-enter his vehicle once deputies attempted to detain him. Despite being hit with a taser, Loomis got back in the truck and fled at a high speed.

The chase led to Upper Front Street and the Route I-81 where police deployed spike strips to deflate his tires. Loomis evaded the strips at Exit 3, but not at Exit 2. Somehow, Loomis continued on until driving down the center median near Exit 1. He then abandoned the vehicle and fled on-foot down the embankment onto Cedarhurst Road in Kirkwood.

New York State Troopers and Sheriff’s Deputies eventually brought Loomis into custody, where he was also found to have an outstanding warrant for Parole Violation.

Clint A. Loomis appeared at Central Arraignment Part on the following
    charges:

    • 2 Counts of Robbery in the 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony
    • 2 Counts of Obstructing Government Administration in the 2nd Degree, a Class A
      Misdemeanor
    • Unlawful Fleeing Police in a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor
    • 2 Counts of Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor
    • 2 Counts of Resisting Arrest, a Class A Misdemeanor
    • 26 Vehicle and Traffic Violations, including Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a
      Motor Vehicle.

Loomis remains in custody at the Broome County Correctional Facility.
