KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Kennewick Police Department said missing 13-year-old Dustin Sutphin was found.

The search went on for nearly three weeks before KPD found him in Kennewick. KPD said the boy is safe.

Family members say Dustin Sutphin is just under 5 feet tall and ran away from his father's house to avoid being taken into child protective custody. He's been gone since April 19th but police haven't issued an amber alert. The reason for that is because this case doesn't fit the requirements Kennewick Police Department said.

One of the reasons Dustin didn't come forward even when he was in contact with his aunt was because he wanted to take his pet chicken with him and be able to keep his cellphone.
