Windy conditions are sticking around, warming trend on the way to 90°!

Things are quiet across the region as we begin our warming trend, possibly reaching 90°F by Saturday. Windy conditions will be staying for a bit longer.

Temperatures this morning are a touch colder compared to yesterday, with the Tri Cities at 44°F, Walla Walla at 42°F, Hanford at 44°F, Yakima Valley at 34°F, Selah at 34°F, Ellensburg at 40°F, and Toppenish at 43°F. Winds have remained elevated overnight, blowing from the south and west between 10 and 20 mph. Expect another windy day ahead, with gusts reaching up to 35-40 mph, particularly in the Kittitas Valley, including Ellensburg, where a wind advisory is in effect until late tonight. Sustained winds could range from 25 to 35 mph, gusting up to 50 mph, so drivers should exercise caution.

Our First Alert radar indicates quiet conditions locally, with only a few snow showers lingering in the higher elevations of the Cascades and Blues. However, these are expected to dissipate as the day progresses due to an upper-level disturbance moving eastward.

Despite the windy conditions, we're in for partly to mostly cloudy skies today, with perhaps a stray shower in Walla Walla and Pendleton along the foothills of the Blues. However, most areas will remain dry, with below-average temperatures in the mid to upper 60s.

    Forecast Highlights:

    • Today: Partly to mostly cloudy skies, chance of stray showers in some areas, below-average temperatures, windy.
    • Tomorrow: Increasing sunshine, temperatures gradually warming, highs in the lower 70s for most regions.
    • Rest of the Week: High pressure building offshore brings more sunshine and a warming trend. Temperatures expected to climb into the 80s by Thursday, reaching potentially 90°F by Saturday.

Rain moves out of the region, make way for the 80s!

REGIONAL - The rain has now pushed off east of the Tri-Cities but we've still got some shower activity over towards Dayton and just south of Walla Walla. Pea-sized hail fell in parts of the Tri-Cities Monday afternoon as a quick thunderstorm passed overhead. That is stemming from a large upper level disturbance that continues to move onshore into the Pacific Northwest and we're going to see a few more spotty showers possible as we continue into the evening hours.
